Lutz, George Daniel — 68, of Windsor, passed away Sept. 6, 2018 at the Hants Community Hospital. Son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth “Betty” (Coolen) Lutz, George was born on Oct. 30, 1949 in Halifax. He was a special soul who continually defied the odds. George loved music and would listen to the classics for hours on end, boogieing to the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Kenny Rogers. He loved to dance and would be the first one up on the dance floor at any family function. He was a devoted brother and uncle and always had a smile on his face. He lived with his sister and her family until moving to the palliative care ward earlier this month at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
He is survived by his devoted and loving sister, Roselina (David) Morris, of Windsor; brother, John (Fabien Barabé) Lutz, of Tantallon; nephews Danny Morris, of Bedford, and Michael Morris, of Dartmouth; niece Carole (Michael) Underhill, of Windsor; great-nieces Sarah Morris, of Bedford, and Alyssa Morris, of Sackville, and their mother, Melanie Morris, of Sackville; plus extended family from Prince Edward Island: Leonard, Kenny, Linda, Tony, Heather, Todd, and Wilma, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and half-brother Benny Lutz, from PEI. The family would like to thank long-time friend Joan Carter, of Avondale, who often helped care for George when he began to develop dementia, and the compassion shown by the Northwood Home caregivers who helped George over the past year. Special thanks also goes out to the doctors and nursing staff who tried to make his final days as comfortable as possible. Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10 at Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 in Lindsay’s Funeral Home chapel. Internment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Donations in memory may be made to a local animal rescue or to a charity of choice.
