Clarence J.     Arsenault

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence J. Arsenault, of Summerside, 80 years of age. Death occurred at the Prince County Hospital on Friday, September 7th. Born in St. Raphäel, he was the son of the late Donat M. and Beatrice (Aucoin) Arsenault. He was the beloved husband of Sherren (Shea) Arsenault, father to sons Donat of Sydney and Robert (Debbie) of Halifax, grandfather to Lynaya (Donat) and grandniece to Kimberly Powers, who was like a granddaughter to him. CJ is survived by his brothers and sisters Louise (+Dolore) Gallant of Wellington, Martin (Wilma) of Kelowna, Raymond of St. Raphäel, Wilfred (Stella) of Saint John, Florence (Elmer) Gallant of Saint John, sisters-in-law Shirley (+Pius) Elsworth, Margaret (+Roy) Albert and Betty (+Carl) Arrigoni, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Euclide (Julia), Edward (Beatrice), Josephine (+Cyr), Anita (+Expedit), René (Phyllis), brother-in-law Johnny (Hazel) Shea, sisters-in-law Stella (+Cecil) Gavin, Sheila (Lornie) Powers, and mother-in-law Helena (Villard) Gavin (Harold Shea, Clifton Gavin). CJ farmed in Piusville and Rosebank from 1964 to 1999. He and Sherren retired to Summerside in 2000 where he spent his time entertaining his granddaughter Lynaya and grandniece Kimberly and building his collections. He enjoyed his many long talks with Albert, Lornie, Mick, Peter, and Ron, and had fond memories of many trips to the Truro cattle sale with Kelly and Muncy. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, until Monday, September 10th, then to St. Paul’s Church for a funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the church cemetery following mass. Visiting hours on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Father Roy Shea Mission in Brazil would be greatly appreciated. The Father Roy Shea Mission was a cause that Clarence strongly supported.
