James Sheldon Ranni

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of James Sheldon Ranni on September 16, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Sheldon was born in Sydney on January 10, 1945, to the late Emilio and Helen (Shaugharue) Ranni. He spent most of his life working within the construction-trades industry, Both local and away, for many companies as well as for himself. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time on the water with a fishing rod in hand. He was a proud member of RCL, Branch 12, where he could be found having a drink and sharing many laughs with fellow comrades and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Dalyce (Stephen); Sons, Troy (Katelyn), Jason (Shannon) and Christopher. Brothers; Verne, David (Joan), Donald (Charlene), Basil (Carol), Paul (Sandy); sisters, Dalyce Hazelwood, Carol MacPherson and Helen Allen (Graham). Grandchildren; Braden, Dustin, Tristan, Tory, Madison, Jamie, Adam and Joslyn. His longtime friend and companion Mary E. Fitzgerald. He was predeceased by a brother, Harvey, and grandson, Jase.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation is held on Thursday, September 20, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
