John Dawe

DAWE, John Ernest Moore, Age 91, 92 King St., Shelburne, passed away October 2, 2018 in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in Hazel Hill, Nova Scotia, he was the youngest son of the late Henry Augustus and May Matilda (Lambert) Dawe. John graduated from St Francis Xavier University and Nova Scotia Technical College, with an Engineering diploma and B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering. He also studied geology during this period and subsequently made a study of geochemistry. He was a professional chemical engineer and a member of APENS (Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia), SME (Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration), and also PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.) His long career spanned over 50 years, finally settling in the area he had always had a keen interest, that of exploration, and development of gold mining in Nova Scotia. John is predeceased by wife Jessie (Meisner) Dawe and survived by second wife, Hilda Williams Dawe. He is remembered with love by son, Vaughn and daughter, Christine. John is also predeceased by brothers, Stan, Manning, Hugh, Charles, Ray, Ralph, and sisters, Chloris, Marie, Florence, Naomi and Carrie. He will also be remembered fondly by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and associates. Memorial service to follow at later date.
