It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother, Shirley McIntyre, at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay on October 8, 2018.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Nicholson) Holloway.
Shirley lovingly raised her children as well as her brother, Stanley. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Shirley was a loving, caring and supportive mother who was always there for them. She was happy to return home to Glace Bay, after residing in Newfoundland for 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her dear friend, Elaine Hanrahan.
Shirley is survived by her children, Peter (Catherine), Amherst, Debbie (Dave) O’Brien, Danny (Doreen), both of Dominion, Brian (Elsie), Burton, NB., Ernie (Maggie), Lloydminster, Linda (Gerry) Nuttall, Corner Brook, NF; her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Stan (Eva) Holloway; sister, Viola Fedorak, both of Dominion, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Allie McIntyre; her son, Allie McIntyre, and her siblings, Uita May, Roscoe, George, Tom, Wally, Melvin, Allan and Margie.
The family would like to thank the VON nurses, Homecare staff; Dr. O’Brien and the nursing staff of Glace Bay Hospital, who helped us through this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 from 1-2:45 p.m. with prayers to follow at 2:45 p.m. with Fr. Norman McPhee officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 37 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). A reception to follow downstairs. The burial to take place in St. Anne’s Church Cemetery.
