Loretta M. Quinlan (McCarthy)

Passed away peacefully on October 10, 2018, at the Health Sciences Centre following a courageous battle with cardiovascular disease, Loretta Quinlan, age 86 years, of Kelligrews, CBS (formerly of Bell Island), NL. Predeceased by her husband James Quinlan (1992), her parents, Maud and Henry McCarthy, and sisters-in-law Christine Quinlan and Mary Smith. Leaving to mourn and celebrate her life and unique character: daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Vincent Basha; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Gail (Gullage); grandchildren: Paul Basha (Candice Udle), Michael Quinlan (Crystal Haggett), Janine Basha (Oscar Prescesky), Sean Quinlan (Michelle Benson), Steven Quinlan; great-grandchild Colton Basha, who will dearly miss his “grand-nanny”; her devoted siblings and their families: Florence Bickford (Eneas, deceased), Doreen Dwyer (Martin), Kevin McCarthy (Lorraine); special sister-in-law, Patricia Atkins (Sam); special neighbors, Marilyn and Paddy Hogan; her Quinlan sisters-in-law: Winnie (Leonard, deceased), Ella (Harold, deceased), Mary Corbett (Joe), Dorothy Wakeham (Kevin); special cousin Betty Tremblett; a large circle of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and special cousins from the McCarthy, Coombs, Wall and Andrews families. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Staff of 5SA, Health Sciences Centre. Resting at Hickey’s Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Saturday & Sunday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Edward’s Church, Kelligrews, on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. Interment in St. Edward’s Cemetery, Kelligrews. Donations in Loretta’s memory may be made to the Lung Association (NL), PO Box 13457, Stn A, St. John’s, NL, AIB 4B8.
