It is with great sadness the family of Charles Grant Cogswell announce his
peaceful passing on October 7, 2018 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital
surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22, 1946 he was the son of the late Charles and Ann (Smith) Cogswell.
Grant has worked in the Nickle Mines for many years and enjoyed nature, long walks in the woods and along beaches, was a member of the Army, Navy and Airforce Unit 217, as well as a committee member with the Combined Christmas Giving and St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. He also was a member of the New Waterford Kinsmen Club. He spent many enjoyable Friday evenings with his friends playing darts at the French Club but more than anything Grant loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his best friend and companion, Elaine (Hurley); son, Robert (Joanna); daughter, Angela (Bradley); stepdaughters, Susie (Bobby) and Dawn;
15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Rosetti; brother, John; sister-in-law, Catherine, Albert Bridge. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, most of whom live in Ontario and New Brunswick.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Lucy Jean; brothers, Bill, Paul, Phillip; a brother and three sisters in infancy, and nephew, Adam Cogswell.
Cremation has taken place and a chapel service will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating, followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy and Airforce, Unit 217, Smith Street.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Leonard’s St. Vincent de Paul food bank or charity of one’s choice.
