Passed on: October 14th, 2018

New Glasgow - Anne Fraser (MacMillan) Marshall, age 86 years, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully October 14, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Malpeque, PEI, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Malcolm MacMillan and Flora (Fraser) MacMillan. Anne retired in 1990 after a 38 year teaching career. She taught special education for the majority of her career and was very dedicated to her chosen profession and students. Anne cared for all her students and met all challenges head-on, ensuring they were clothed and fed properly and, above all, respected. She instilled the importance of life skills and caring in all her students. Mom, “Nannie Anne”, was a hardworking, loving, very independent, strong-willed lady who cherished all time spent with family and friends. Anne loved to travel, be it a spur-of-the-moment day trip or travel abroad with both family and friends. She relished her numerous trips to New Zealand; a very special trip to Iceland with her daughter-in-law, Sandy; and to Europe. Above all, Anne’s happy place was the family summer residence in Baddeck, Cape Breton. Anne loved every moment she spent up in the “Glen” as we referred to it and always regretted having to close up each Fall until the following Spring. Mom loved her family and extended family unconditionally and is survived by her son, David (Sandra) Marshall, Chance Harbour, NS; her grandson, Jason (Tamar) Marshall, Kentville, NS; her granddaughter, Stephanie Anne (Tristan) Steele, Donkin, NS; her great grandchildren, Nola and Edie Marshall; MacKenzie Anne Steele; her sister, Sheila (David) Owen, Riverview, NB; her nephew, Scott (Barb) Owen and daughter Monet, Dieppe, NB; her niece, Sheri Owen and her son, Jaden (J), Toronto, ON; cousin, Mary Anne (Wayne) Fogarty, Moncton, NB. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Marshall and sons, Donald and Robert. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation as per family request. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, under the direction of Rev. Donna Tourneur at Trinity United Church, 151 Temperance St., New Glasgow. Interment will be at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the Aberdeen staff on both the 4th floor Surgical and Medical Units for their professional care and support during Anne’s illness. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. Online condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
