Sanford Elwin “Sandy” McCully

Sanford Elwin McCully “Sandy” - 62, Bible Hill, passed away on October 22, 2018 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Wendel and Gertrude (Thompson) McCully. Sandy attended the Vocational School in Truro, earning his trade certificate as a Red Seal high pressure welder and soon after started his business Mobile Welding. He later began a career as a truck driver working for a number of companies over the years and ending his career in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan as truck driver. Sandy had a great sense of humour and loved to tease all his loved ones. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and grand dogs, however he would tell you he loved the dogs most. He will always be remembered as someone with a heart of gold and as someone who would help someone in need. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest brother Terry McCully. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary (Grant); son, Brad (Dineen Kennedy), Valley, Nova Scotia; daughter, Ann Marie (Shane Totten), Debert, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Jada Totten, Bradley, Jenna and Brayden McCully. He is also survived by sisters, Judy Devouge and Nancy (Walter) Johnston, brothers, Ron (Debbie) McCully and Richard McCully as well as several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford. (902-835-4212). A gathering to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 42 Brunswick Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sanford’s memory can be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, and a special thanks to Dr. Ellis, for all he has done.
