It is with great sadness that we the family of Ruth Matheson announce her passing at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Sydney River on October 22nd, 2018.
She was the daughter of Ruth and Roy Young. Ruth was a wonderful wife and mother to her husband and children.
She was an amazing cook and baker, and everyone knew it. She worked at the fish plant in North Sydney for many years. Ruth was active with the Sydney Mines Legion, and the Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines, and a long-time member of Al-anon throughout Cape Breton.
She is survived by her husband, Winston Matheson; her children, Deborah Matheson, Laura (John) Evans, Cindy (Scott) Miller, Winston Matheson, Maxine (Stephen) Tremblett; her grandchildren, John Ryan (Carly) Evans, Justin Evans, Scott (Ashley) Miller, Amber Miller, Sarah Matheson, William Matheson, Brittany Poirier, Nicole (Russell) Poirier; great-grandchildren, Everleigh , Nevaeh Evans; sister, Maxine (Mike) MacMillan. She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Matheson (Young).
She was predeceased by her father, Roy Young; brother, Ein Young; her baby girl, Carolyn Matheson, and daughter-in-law, Faye. She will be truly missed by all but especially by her daughter and angel Deborah Matheson, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law who have always been there for her.
Visitation for Ruth will take place from 1-2 p.m., Thursday October 25, 2018 at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
A celebration of her life to follow immediately after at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.Reception to follow. Messages and memorials may be made to the family by visitinwww.chantfuneralhome.ca.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chant’s Funeral Home.
