Larry Minard Kempton
October 30th, 1947 – October 17th, 2018
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Larry Minard Kempton announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018 at the age of 70 years. Born in Yarmouth, NS, Larry was the son of the late Glenister and Louise Kempton (nee Minard); grandmother who raised him Edith Kempton and his first wife Marjorie Lynn Kempton (nee Mahoney). Larry leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 27 years Julia Kempton (nee Gaulton); son Kevin Kempton (Trudy) of Dartmouth, NS; sister Beverly Carey of Lower Sackville, NS; step-children Barbara Priddle (Garry) of St. Catharines, ON, Carol Hirtle (Gary) of Bridgewater, NS, Vicky Lomond of St. John's, NL, Paul Lomond (Sonia) of Port Colborne, ON, Shawn Lomond (Joanne) of Antigonish, NS; grandchildren Dawn, Shannon, Ashley, Marley, Jason, Derrick, June; great-grandchildren Dominique, Jared, Keighan, Jullian, Katelyn, Brandon, Madison, Myla, Jade, Olivia; nephew Chris Carey and family; niece Kim Carey and family both of Halifax, NS; sisters-in-law Elsie McNeil, Maisie Osmond (George), Shirley White (Charlie Pynn), Viola Elms (Jordan), Doreen Dowding (Ernest), Joyce Young (Matt), Norma Murphy, Lewellyn Short (Lynn), Joan Leriche (Bert) all of Port Aux Basques, NL, plus a very large circle of family and friends and friends of Bill W. Larry was also predeceased by his mother-in-law Emily Maud Gaulton Short (nee Kettle); brothers-in-law Lew Carey, William McNeil, Wilson White, John Murphy, Clifford Gaulton, and Steward Gaulton. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation was held on Friday, October 19th, 2018 from 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. in Port aux Basques, NL. The memorial service was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Grand Bay, Port aux Basques, NL on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at 2 pm officiated by The Rev. Clayton Billard. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Larry's memory can be made to the St. Paul's Anglican Church.
