William Ross Spencer
July 24th, 1927 – October 28th, 2018

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late William Ross Spencer announces his passing at the Mountain Hope Manor in Port aux Basques, NL on Sunday, October 28th, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL, Ross was the son of the late Stephen and Emma Spencer (nee Matthews). He was also predeceased by his loving wife Pearl Coffin; daughter Cathy; grandson Andy Coffin; great-grandson Nicholas Spencer; brothers Sid Spencer, Steven Spencer, George Spencer, Henry Spencer, Patrick Spencer; sisters Eileen Rogers, Ruth Spence and brother-in-law Lorenzo Samms. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving children Donna (Rick) Farrell of Port aux Basques, NL, Linda (Greg) Schroh of Corner Brook, NL, Sherry (Grant) Wallace of Vancover, BC, Dan (Lorraine) Matthews of London, Ont, Pat (Elaine) Spencer of Moncton, NB, Herb Spencer of Cambridge, Ont, Garry (Valerie) Spencer of St. John, NB; step-children Jessie (Kenny) Ford, Chester (Helen) Coffin both of Port aux Basques, NL, Brian (Annie) Coffin of St. John's, NL, Diane Coffin of Hamilton, Ont; brothers Bob (Gloria) Matthews of Greenwood, NS, Frank (Carolann) Matthews; sister Pauline Samms (Hubert Pearce) both of Port aux Basques, NL; sister-in-law Josie Spencer of Halifax, NS, Mary Spencer of North Sydney, NS. He also leaves behind seventeen (17) grandchildren; sixteen (16) great-grandchildren plus a large circle nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held on Monday, October 29th, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. in Port aux Basques, NL. The funeral service was held at the St. James Anglican Church in Channel-Port aux Basques, NL on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 at 11 am officiated by The Rev. Edward Coleman with interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Ross' memory can be made to the St. James Anglican Church.
