It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" William Allison, of Currys Corner, Hants County, at the age of 80 on November 16, 2018 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, N.S., with his family by his side. Born in Windsor on April 30, 1938, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Boyd) Allison. Jim attended Windsor Academy and left school before graduation to work on the farm with his father. At an early age Jim was a member of the Currys Corner Fire Department #2 when his father was fire chief. He also enjoyed playing hockey with his friends. He often spoke of hanging out with his friends at Campbell’s Store, telling stories and talking about the news of the day. Later in his married life he was a bus driver for West Hants District School Board and the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board for 23 years. He was a dedicated fan of the Martock Tug of War Team when his son, Darren and later his granddaughter, Courtney were competing in the Tug of War Competitions. Jim was a quiet man and kept to himself, but could be quite witty when the opportunity came along. He was so proud of his grandchildren, of their accomplishments whether it was hockey, 4H, Tug of War or selling tractors. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann “Judy” (Harvey) of 56 years. She was his confidant and caregiver until she no longer could care for him in their home, as well as daughter, Sherri (Mike) vanKippersluis and their children Tyler (Laura) and Jordon; daughter, Tracey (Brian) McKee and their son, William and stepdaughters, Emma (Brandon) and Sara (Noah) McKee; son, Darren and Stephani Allison the mother of their children, Courtney (Mitchell), Connor and Carlee; brother-in-law, John Verreault; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by parents, James and Dorothy Allison; sisters, June (Roland) Hanson and Eleanor Verreault; special aunt and uncle Kate and Mike Reid, and Muriel Allison whom he cherished so much. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Hants Community Hospital staff for making his last days comfortable and especially Amber Phillips, Palliative Care Coordinator for her compassionate care and comfort. Visitation was held 6 – 8 pm Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rob Heffernan officiated. Donations in Jim’s memory were requested be made to the Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary, Hants Community Hospital Foundation, Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
