It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Donna MacDonald, age 75, on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Florence on September 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jick and Fanny Robertson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Donna was a member of Wilson United Church, Florence, and was also a member of the Northside General Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She worked as a baker at the Keltic Market for many years.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Sharon), North Sydney, Laurie (Buddy) Davis, Sydney Mines, Tracy and Jason (Rose), both of Florence, and special extended family member, Dale Nicholson. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, with whom she had a close and special bond, Ryan, Jessica, Chad, Chelsea, Hannah, Ashley, Maddison, Tori, Emily, Sommer, Leann, Tara, Christopher and Erinn; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Kai, Kaiden, Willow, Addilyn, Silas, and especially her little buddy, Eddie and Baileigh; sister-in-law, Margaret, and her lifelong friends, Sylvia MacMullin and Paula Keefe.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of over 40 years, Edward MacDonald; granddaughter, Brittany Chant; brother, Jimmy, and special extended family member, Wendy Nicholson.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer and the nursing staff at the Northside General Hospital for the wonderful care Donna received.
Visitation for Donna MacDonald will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines.
A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, at 11 a. m. in the funeral home, with Diane Kempt DLM officiating. The burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Palliative Care or to a charity of one’s choice.
