Michael J. Williams

Passed on: November 18th, 2018

It is with shattered hearts we the family of Michael J. Williams had to say good bye to a wonderful man!
On November 18, 2018, Michael lost his long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family at home where he always wanted to be.
Born on December 26, 1950 to June (Ridsdill) and the late Joe Williams, Michael worked for Princess Colliery in his younger years, moving on to fishing and the latest as a labourer in Ontario and out west, until an accident prevented him from returning to work.
Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a lot of buddies by his side.
He was the type of guy if you needed it and he had it, it was yours, even if it meant he did without.
Michael is survived by the love of his life Patricia Williams (Gerrow) whom he always adored. Marrying Patricia in 1996 really turned Mike’s world around!
He is also survived by his children, Shannon Williams, Brandy Williams, Natasha (Jason) Dumont, Trisha Williams (Donny), Brian (Rose) Matthews, Kim Matthews (Scott), Lisa (David) Herridge; brothers and best friends, Ernest (Tina), Harry (Michelle), James (Carol), Gary (Heather); sisters, Lillian (Ernie) Saunders and Janie (Colin) MacDonald; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, whom he cherished and loved with all his heart, and numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him greatly. He also leaves to mourn a special godchild, Jessica, who was his little sidekick.
Michael fought the demon for so long just to see his children and grandchildren reach milestones in their lives. He had reached those goals and couldn’t fight it off anymore.
He was predeceased by his father, Joe, and brother, Francis.
We would like to thank Dr. Kohlsmith, Dr. Jenson, Dr. Kodadad, everyone at Palliative Care, VON, the paramedics who made many trips for him, and all the wonderful nursing staff of the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Visitation for Michael Williams will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines, with a small service to follow at 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
Forever in our hearts you will always be!
