Annie Reid

The family of Anne “Annie” Reid regrets to announce her death on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, aged 62 years. Born in Summerside, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Norma (Humphrey) Reid. She is survived by her brothers, Don (Deb), Bill (Maria) and sister Kathy (Stan); nephews, Jason, Ryan, and Derek; nieces, Laura, Sara, Natalie and Emily; grand-nephews Garrett, Luke, Griffin, and Blake; grand-nieces Madison, Kali, Harper and August. She also leaves her aunts Marion (Walt) Riehl and Lynn Reid; and her uncle, Andrew (Bea) Humphrey. Anne was a loyal member of Bedeque United Church, whose congregation helped form a loving extended family for her. Her church gave her a sense of belonging and her contributions there in choir, teaching Sunday school and baking for special events, gave her a sense of purpose. Anne struggled with both mental health and physical challenges. She worked hard to be useful as a helper, caring for her nieces and nephews when they were young, working in her parents' business and in their home. This selflessness continued after she moved to the Summerset Manor, delighting in helping with tasks as well as fund raising for charities. She experienced a further generous extended family at Summerset Manor, as it became “home”. All her caregivers (Dialysis, Mental Health) demonstrated incredible compassion. Anne knew the value of gratitude and was generous with kindness to all who knew her. Her love of others was a hallmark of who she was. Her tender heart will be sorely missed. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Sunday, then to the Bedeque United Church, where funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Interment will later take place in the Lower Bedeque Cemetery. Immediately following the funeral service, a reception and celebration of Anne’s life will be held at Bedeque United Church Hall, where everyone is invited for a time of fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Bedeque United Church, Dialysis Unit of the Prince County Hospital or the PEI Type 1 Diabetes Camp of Camp Triumph would be appreciated. www.moase.ca
