It is with heavy heart that we the family of Gloria Ruth Ferguson Sanson, 84, regretfully announce her sudden passing on August 29, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Springhill, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Beaton) Ferguson and Frank Ferguson.
She was a caring and thoughtful nursing assistant on the 2nd floor of St. Rita Hospital for 29 years until her retirement. Gloria was young at heart and was always willing to listen and be supportive of others. No stray was ever turned away from her door. She was greatly loved, respected and admired by her children and grandchildren.
She was the matriarch of a family of eight children; Herbert (Cindy), Sydney, Elaine (Wilfred Isaac), Westmount, Sheila Phillipo (Terry), Westmount, Katherine Thomson (Jeff), New Brunswick, Bill (Margaret), Edmonton, Margaret, Westmount, Shawn (Sandra), Westmount, Glen (Nathalie), Ottawa; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and her faithful pet Ginger.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband Herbert Sanson; granddaughter Rachael Sanson and siblings Mary, Catherine, Honora, Frank, Billy, Colin and Donald.
Visitation for Gloria Sanson will take place Monday, August 31, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the SPCA.
