Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, December 07, 2018 at the age of 76. Gloria is predeceased by her husband Anthony Hanlon, her parents Frank and Elizabeth Smith, and her infant son Michael Hanlon. Glory is survived by her sisters Alfreda Rowe (Albert), Edith York (John), Muriel Brazil (Leo), Christine Anderson (Berkely) and Linda Bellissimo (Joe). By her brothers Thomas Smith (Ruby) and Frank Smith Jr. By her children Elizabeth Barron (Stan), Tony Hanlon (Joan), Wayne Hanlon (Martina), Debbie Hanlon (Oral), Paul Hanlon (Tanya) and Randy Chalk. By her grandchildren Michael Upshall (Amanda), David Paul Jr Upshall (Natasha), Nicole Hanlon (Stephen), Tony Hanlon Jr (Crystal), Crystal Walsh (James), Katrina Gibbons (Jesse), Wayne Hanlon Jr (Amy), Trevor Sullivan, Justin Sullivan (Shannon), Samantha Sullivan (Erik), Ashley Hanlon (Halie), Alexia Hanlon (Lucas), Jessica Hanlon (Mark) and Chad Hanlon. By her great-grandchildren Parker Upshall, Noah Villeneuve, Rodney and Madison Hanlon, James and Andrew Walsh, Frank Sullivan, Jackson and Juliette Hanlon, and Reese Hanlon, and by her lifelong friends Gloria Reese, Harry Butler, and Steve Crane. Gloria was born in Trinity Bay on Tuesday, April 28th 1942, she had an indomitable spirit working in jobs that always helped others; from waitressing to Real Estate Agent. However, her life’s passion was Taekwondo and the hundreds of students who lives she touched. Gloria loved dogs and entertaining the never-ending stream of family and friends that came in through her front door. Where you could always be assured of a sympathetic ear and a cup of Tetley tea. The visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave, St. John’s, Newfoundland on December 9th, 2018 from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM. Also, on December 10th, 2018 from 11 AM - 2 PM. The funeral service will also be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home on December 10th, 2018 at 2 PM with Father Wayne Dohey officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery directly after the funeral service. A wake will take place at 112 Sugarloaf Road (nan's house) following the burial. All friends and family are welcomed to come and join in the celebration of her beautiful life.
