HENRY JOSEPH (HANK) O’SHEA, August 23, 1922 – December 8, 2018. Passed away peacefully in London Ontario, after a short illness. Predeceased by his beloved wife Kaye (McNeely), his parents William and Helen (Byrne) of Iona, PEI, and two infant sons at birth. He leaves to mourn his seven children, Pat (Madonna Tracey), St. John’s, NFLD; Michael, Victoria BC; Kevin (Kay Hurran), and Peggy (Greg Terada) Ottawa, Ontario; Kerry (Glenda Kerr), Brantford, Ontario; Tim, Athens, Ontario, and Colleen (Pat Costello) , Whitby, Ontario. Hank is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Hank was predeceased by his siblings Maurice (late Edna), Mary (late Joe Swanston), and Frank (late Verona). He is survived by his sister Anne Connolly (late Arthur), his brother Leo (Florence), his brother Father Art O’Shea, all of Prince Edward Island, and his sister-in-law Lorraine Ellsworth (late Conway),Halifax, NS. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Hank served in World War II in the Canadian Navy (RCNVR). He later graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in Science (Geology). He worked throughout his life in the oil and gas industry in Western Canada, Ontario and in neighboring provinces and states, as an Exploration Geologist. He was a Founding Father and served as the first President of the Ontario Petroleum Institute. A long time resident of Lambeth, Ontario, Hank was heavily involved in his church community. He was an organizer with minor hockey and baseball, as well as a very long-time player with both the Lambeth Men’s Hockey and Fastball Leagues. A long- time member of the Forest City and London Western Toastmasters, Hank was an inspiration and mentor to generations of public speakers.
Cremation has occurred. A wake will be held in London December 14 and 15. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Michael’s Parish Church in Iona, P.E.I. on Monday December 17, at 10.30 AM, followed by a burial in St Michael’s Cemetery.
