Jim Jones

Jim Jones, 65, of West Prince, PEI, passed away on Thursday, December 27th in his home surrounded by family and friends and his pup Petey. He was born in Toronto, Ontario in December of 1953. As a child. he visited his grandparents on Howlan Road most summers with his family. He would later bump his head on the beams in the same house he visited as a child and thought was gigantic. He married Nancy in 1974 and his daughter was born in 1976. Very soon after, Jim decided he needed to return to school and learn a trade in order to be the best provider he could be. His son was born in 1981. Jim was a jack of all trade and master of, well, most, actually. He was a certified millwright and industrial mechanic. He married his second wife, Cathy, in 2006. Jim was also a talented athletic and enjoyed all sports especially baseball and hockey. He also enjoyed watching and talking about sports. He coached many of his son’s hockey teams and he was a talented cook. But nothing he cooked, built or fixed meant as much as something that was cooked, built or fixed for someone else. Jim had a generosity of spirit that is not outmatched, and it is what he will be remembered for most. If you call Jim, he’d be there for you and he’d expect nothing in return. Jim was the son of Margaret and Fred Jones also of West Prince, brother of Dale and Randy, father of Kristin and Matt and grandfather of Amber. He will be greatly missed by his brother Dale and kids and granddaughter, but also by his best friends Stephen Clements and Herb Dickieson, countless cousins, friends and neighbours. A prayer service will be held at West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 11 AM. Special thanks to Nurses & Staff of Community Hospital, O’Leary who made sure that Jim’s last days were as easy and comfortable as humanly possible. His family will be forever grateful. www.peifuneralcoops.com
