M. Angeline O’Connor, 97, of Bedford, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, peacefully at home.
Born in Big Pond Centre, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Dan and Margaret (MacDonald) MacLellan. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School, she taught school in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario, always proud of the quality of teaching by Atlantic Canadians.
After her marriage, she was a partner in operating her husband’s farm, a devoted wife and mother.
She was twice honoured as a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League, was active in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and pleased to be included on the committee that helped the Rector of St. Michael’s Cathedral Toronto host Pope John Paul II in 1984.
She lived most of her life in Ontario, returning to Nova Scotia in 2006.
Survived by her sons, Daniel (Sharon), Halifax and John (Ilse) Antwerp; her sisters, Sister Florence MacLellan, Sydney and Patricia MacLellan, Halifax, her grandson William O’Connor, Halifax; her foster son, Peter Menzies (Mary) and their sons, Michael and Joseph, Whitby, Ont.; many nieces and nephews, and their growing families.
Predeceased by her husband, John O’Connor; brothers, Bernard, Martin (Elizabeth), Angus (Catherine) and Donald, and sisters, Mary, Catherine and Margaret.
A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, Cruikshank’s Funeral Home in Halifax followed by a reception. Visitation 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 3, Turner and Porter Peel Chapel, Mississauga, Ont. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, St. Patrick’s Church, Mississauga, followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Streetsville.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or the charity of your choice. No flowers, please.
