It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Mae Humber (nee Sooley) announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the age of 90 years, surrounded by her loving family. Leaving to mourn with treasured and loving memories are her children: Florence (Freeman) Cook, Fred (Irene) Humber, Marilyn Humber (Stirling), Lisa (Wade) Mayo and Shirley (Stephen) Fequet; daughter-in-law Mary Humber; ten grandchildren: Craig, Eric Glen, Erica, Melanie, Michelle, Hans, Evan, Bethany, Chad and Jonathan; eight great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Clara, Riley, Renee, Brady, Ericson, Sam and Sage; siblings: Hector (Vera), Fred (Lola), Boyd (Ethel); sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law Gerald (Robina) Humber; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Cyril Humber (1998); son Eric (2011); parents Fred and Florence Sooley; brother Wendell; brothers-in-law Harold (Mary), Reg, Donald (Mildred), Ronald; sisters-in-law Rose (Cecil), Ella, Melissa (Clayton), Ivy, Dorothy (Edgar) and Elsie. Stella was loved by all who knew her and touched so many in her 90 years. A special thank you to Long Term Care staff, 4 south and Dr’s J.C. Westby and Dr. Culliton. Those angels surrounded our Mom and family with professionalism, grace and kindness, helping ease our tremendous loss. We will be forever grateful. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Thursday, January 3rd from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4th at 2 P.M. from St. Ambrose Anglican Church, John’s Beach with Reverend Effie Organ and Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ambrose Memorial Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
