It is with heavy hearts, but with much gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ellen (Nellie) Doyle (nee Madden) at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jack Doyle, her parents Thomas and Ellen Madden, her siblings Philip, Mary (Mike Ryan), Francis (Frank Babstock), Margie, and baby grandson Vincent Joseph Doyle. Leaving to mourn are her biggest treasures, her nine children: Billy (Jean), David (Betty), Philomena, Tony, Nellie (Benny Putt), Philip, Louise (Jim), Gordie (Dale), Sandy (Vince) and her two brothers Tommy and Pat (Marge). She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, along with a large circle of nieces and nephews and life-long friends Gary and Madge Kavanagh. Nellie's family would like to acknowledge their gratitude for the compassion and care she received from Dr. Compton, the palliative care nurses and the numerous family and friends. A special thank you to doctor and lifetime friend Issac Natsheh; great-niece Jennifer Johnson for all her nursing care/help; Father Jeff Kolonel and Father Paul Lundrigan for their pastorial care and friendship; and to nephew Joe Ryan at Ryan's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Caul's Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 11 am - 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph's RC Parish, Petty Harbour, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11 am with cremation to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date. Reception to immediately follow at Petty Harbour Recreation Center.
