(1933-2019)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. Samuel Fam, of Quispamsis, NB. This was after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Samuel is survived by his loving wife Nadia (Nashad Guindi) of 54 years, his children, Neveen Sheppard (Kerry) of Rothesay, Hani Fam (Sherra) of Peterborough, Ontario, and Nancy Gilmour (Andrew) of Victoria, BC. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Alexander, Gillian, Connor and Avery. He is survived by his brother Arnest and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Samual was born in Cairo, Egypt to Saida and Tawfiek . He was a family physician and then an internal medicine specialist while living there. After moving to Canada in 1969, Samuel attended McGill University where he completed his residency in radiology. In 1975 he moved to Newfoundland practicing radiology in Stephenville for 11 years and then in Carbonear for 28 years retiring at a youthful 75 years of age. After he retired, he and Nadia moved to Quispamsis to be closer to family. Samuel worshipped at Grace Valley Church. Samuel was a kind, caring, hard-working man, wonderful husband and an amazing father. Nadia and Samuel travelled the world. His greatest loves were his Lord, wife, children, grandchildren and church family. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Graham MacNeil, Dr. Jessica Hemmings, Dr. Paul Keyes and the nurses and staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care of Samuel. The family would also like to thank the many members of Grace Valley Church for their kindness and support. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Friday January 11 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Grace Valley Church, 185 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis on Saturday, January 12 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations in Samuel’s memory can be made to Saint John Regional Palliative Care Unit or Gideons International. Online condolences may be placed at www.Brenansfh.com.
