With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Delroy Watson MacInnes, 65, of Jersey Cove, Victoria County on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born July 18, 1953 in Sydney, NS, he was the son of the late Horace and Mabel (Boudreau) MacInnes.
Delroy grew up in Westmount, Cape Breton. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted loving man, he loved his family dearly and made friends wherever he went and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Del loved to tell stories and jokes and spend time with his family. He loved spending time with his son Jason working on cars, and he loved to tackle any job, big or small, and if he wasn't sure how to do it, by God he would figure it out. Delroy was semi-retired and worked part time for Armour Transport.
Delroy was survived by his wife, Ann, of 47 years; his son, Jason (Tracey), Jersey Cove; sister, Sylvia Silver (Butch), Ontario; brothers, Neil MacInnes (Fran), Point Edward and Bill MacInnes, Baddeck; nieces, Sylvia (Aaron), Edmonton, Sonya (Gerard), Liverpool, NS; nephew, Dan (Jeannie), Englishtown, NS; special friends, Gordie and Gilda MacDonald, Fredericton, NB, and Joe and Sue McArthur of Albert Bridge, NS, and his beloved dog, Sasha ‘BooBoo’.
Many thanks to Doctor Schimone and Doctor Wong, and nurses Charnelle and Melissa of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for all their assistance.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. at St. Ann's Bay United Church, Indian Brook with Rev. Ian Harrison officiating, reception to follow. Funeral is under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home.
