CHURCHILL, (Barbara) Joyce – age 84, of Yarmouth, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in South Ohio on February 8, 1934 she was the eldest daughter to the late James R and Emma P (Moses) Gould. Since the age of 12, Joyce was a dedicated member of the choir and also a long-standing member of the Atlantic Baptist Women’s Missionary Society. For many years, she worked as Personnel Manager at Zellers and then dedicated 20 years of service at the Yarmouth Municipality. In her spare time, she loved to garden, read and research the Gould family genealogy. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Landers, Gardeners Mill; Muriel Locke (Gerald), Shelburne; sons, Stephen, Ottawa; Gregory (Sherry), Summerville; Eric (Petrine), Yarmouth; Kevin (Karen), North Chegoggin; Trent, Bridgewater; brothers, Bruce, Hebron; Paul (Elizabeth), South Ohio; Allan (Holly), Gardeners Mill; sisters, Irma Banks, Hebron; Linda Crosby (Kenneth), Brazil Lake; Gloria Gould, Hebron; Nancy Finch (Graham), Oshawa, ON; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Allen Churchill and her brother, James. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home South Room. A Memorial service was held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Scott MacDonald officiated. Interment followed in Darling’s Lake Cemetery with a reception that followed at the South Ohio Community Hall from 3:30-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Atlantic Baptist Women’s Missionary Society.
