Josephine 'Josie' Matheson

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Josephine “Josie” Matheson on Monday, January 14, 2019, at the age of 90, following a brief illness.
Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed life to the fullest. Josie had a great sense of humor and was kind to everyone she met. She was an avid traveler and talented artist. Josie cherished her pen pal of 78 years, who lives in Manitoba.
Survived by her loving children, Stewart (Phyllis) Matheson, Elaine (David) Sherwood, Nancy (Bob) Inglis and Allan (Karen) Matheson; son-in-law, Ted Goodyear; sister-in-law, Barbara Matheson; grandchildren, Erin (Mike) MacNeil, Alison (Trevor) Barrington, Glenn (Anne) Barrington, Mark (Melissa) Inglis, Jocelyn (Chris) Tournidis and Joel (Katie) Inglis; great-grandchildren, Cole, Breanna, Cailex, Zaio, Sloane, Fallon and Sophie.
Predeceased by her husband, Donald “Chick” Matheson; daughter, Ruth Goodyear and brother-in-law, Ray Matheson.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 17 from 4–7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, January 18 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
