Donna Carter

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Marie Carter (nee) Smith
Donna left this world surrounded by the people she loved the most on January 16, 2019 after a long struggle with congestive heart failure and other illnesses. Donna entered this world on January 29, 1950 to loving parents, the late Will and Frances Smith and grew up in Priestville. She then went on to meet her husband John and have two beautiful children who she adored, residing in Westville since 1978. Donna's longest employment was at the Valley View Villa where she worked as a Personal Care Worker which suited her as she was a take care person. In this position Donna brought great joy to the residents and her coworkers. Donna enjoyed cooking, baking and having visits from her family and friends where they would always find a good cup of tea and her with a dish cloth in hand. She loved country music and you could find her anywhere there was a guitar and someone singing be it at a live concert or around a campfire. Donna was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends sharing her love, compassion and quick wit, making them laugh and laughing with them. She left behind a true example of great strength.

Donna is survived by many people who loved her very much, her husband John Francis Carter, daughter Susan Carter (Janice) Westville, and son John Carter(Dawn) Foxbrook, also her greatest gifts her grandchildren, Brittney, Alex, Logan, and Neil and adorable great grandchild, Lila Grace. She is also survived by siblings David (Leona) Smith, Patsy (Dan) Atkins, Sterling (Rachel) Smith and Marilyn English (Andrew Matheson) Nephews: Jason, Mike, Jeremy, Chris, Bradley, Sean, Dawson and her only niece Taylor, five grand nephews and one grand niece.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Frances (Malcolm) Smith.
The family would like to thank all Palliative Care staff for the amazing support that was shown during this most difficult time.
