Robert Allister Chant

Passed on: January 24th, 2019

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share with our family and friends the passing of our dear father, grandfather, and husband of 56 years to his adoring wife. Born on April 2, 1936 Allister (Al) was the son of Herb and Annie (Wheeliker) Chant.
Although Dad physically left us on January 24, 2019 his life and reason to exist ended a month earlier with the passing of the love of his life. As a couple Mom and Dad proved beyond a doubt that of the three things will that last forever—faith, hope, and love— the greatest of these is love. May their happiness continue to live on now that they are together once again. They will both be missed very
much, always loved, and never forgotten.
Allister is survived by his four sons, Kevin (Susan King), Robbie, John (Pam) and
Todd (Cherie), and grandchildren, Ally, Christy, Kenneth, Tyler, Cheyenne and Faith.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen; brother, Ronald Arthur; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Chant (in infancy), and several nieces and nephews.
As a young man Allister served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for a number of years. After leaving the Air Force he worked at the T. E. Eaton Company in Glace Bay and later in his life for the Canada Post Corporation. Allister was actively involved with the Epworth United Church and served on the Board of Elders.
Cremation has already taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral as per his wishes. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
