VACON, Emily Angelina – age 98, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the Villa. Born October 18, 1920 in Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Judithe (Doucette) Muise. Emily was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, doing her housework, as well as cooking and baking. She very much enjoyed caring for her plants. She also looked forward to and loved visits from her family and friends. Emily had the wonderful attribute of being young-at-heart, and had an enduring passion for life, apparent to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children, Carol Patriquin, Moncton, NB; Pearl (Raymond) Doucette, Tusket; Ronald Pottier, Hamilton, ON; Ginnie (Ken) Smith, Quispamsis, NB; Diane (Jim) MacLean, Dartmouth, as well as grandchildren, Michael Surette, Joanne Surette, Kimberly Patriquin, Brian Doucette, Andrea Doucette, Paula Doucette, Emily MacLean; she also had eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger J. Pottier, as well as by her second husband, James J. “Jim” Vacon; brothers, Wilfred, Leo and Paul Muise; sisters, Genevieve Vetri, Eleanor Frotten, Lorraine Muise. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30 from Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Henry Smolenaars and Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Emily may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Roland Muise and the staff at the Villa for their care and compassion.
