Passed peacefully away at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s, on Friday, February 8, 2019, Mona Bursey (nee Matthews) of Brownsdale, age 82 years. Predeceased by her mother and father Agnes and Hayward; sons Keith and Carl; brothers Augustus and Joseph; and sister Geraldine. Leaving to mourn son Rick (Dolores) Matthews; daughters Joanne (Lester) Sparkes and Jill (Dave) Warren; grandchildren Danielle, Kerry, Chantelle, Katrina, Kristy, Chantelle, Lesley-Ann, Haley, Brady, Mitchell, Jamie and Angela; 8 great-grandchildren; sister June; sister-in-law Betty; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The family would like to especially thank the staff of 2SW at Pleasant View Towers for the wonderful care given to our mother and grandmother. Visitation will take place from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s, on Sunday, February 10, from 2-9pm and at Hopkins Funeral Home, Old Perlican, on Monday, February 11, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place at Brownsdale United Church on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 1:00pm. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
