Francis B.  Chisholm

Francis, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019 at Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Born in Guysborough Interval he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Connolly) Chisholm.
Francis was a member of St. Michael’s Parish and a former member of the Lion’s Club, the Curling Club, Baddeck Legion and the Bras d’Or Yacht Club. He could often be found playing crib at the Legion with his buddy Rubin and golfing with seniors on Tuesdays. Francis retired from the Department of Transportation in 1991. Following retirement, he operated a small Christmas tree lot and sold Christmas wreaths. Not one to be still he planked salmon at the Baddeck Lobsters Suppers while “entertaining” tourist. He took great pride in his garden, sunflowers and enjoyed giving away whatever he grew. In the winter he liked watching the birds at his feeder and made sure they were fed all year round.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy MacDonald; sons, Sheldon (Soonok), Kevin (Cynthia); daughter, Marie (Tim); brother, Harold (Hamilton); sisters, Martha MacDonald, Antigonish, Evelyn Speller, Dartmouth, Joan MacIsaac, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Ian, Daniel, Emily, Alicia, Liam, Patrick and Sean; great-grandchildren, Colton, Eric and Elijah.
Besides his parents Francis was predeceased by his brother, John; sisters, Mary Alice Ferguson, Florence Costello, Rita Fredericks and a bother in infancy.
Keeping with Francis request there will be no visitation. The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Parish, Baddeck, NS with a burial at a later date in Middle River.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Victoria County memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.
