Elizabeth Geneva "Betty" MILNE

Woodburn - Elizabeth Geneva “Betty” Milne, 89, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019. Born in Trenton, NS., on September 21st, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Frederick Courtney and Anna Isabel Lawrence (Burns) Mitchell. My mother spent a few years in the 1960s working in the lighting business in Toronto, but the draw of Pictou County was very strong. She returned to enjoy life on the Milne family rhubarb farm in Woodburn with my father and eventually me. She enjoyed traveling the world with her sisters and was known far and wide for her Sunday dinners where you could always find a festive feast with lots of laughter and great stories. My mother lived her life doing what she wanted and enjoyed everything she did. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Leslie Milne; brothers, Burns "Bud", Lauchlin and Harvey Mitchell; sisters, Velma Forshner, Donelda Fox and Rita Sinclair. She is survived by her loving sister, Rose Ross and brother-in-law, Alvin Sinclair. She is survived by her only child, Leslie Burns (Kim) Milne, their children Scott (Courtnay) Gorman and Kaili (Will) Gorman and “The Angels” Jadyn, James and
Charlotte; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; She also leaves behind her very dear friends, Margaret Milne and Marie Cullen. My mother cherished her friendship with Margaret greatly and would always regale me of their evenings talking about family and watching Downton Abbey. My mother and Marie were the closest of friends for more than 80 years and though Marie moved to the big city of Halifax a few years back, not a week went by when they did not speak. We would like to thank the wonderful folks at the Aberdeen Hospital and for their kindness and care. I would also like to extend my deepest appreciation to my cousin Andrew Milne who always had time to check up on a spry old lady and Ellen and David Sinclair for a lifetime of continued support, love and care. A memorial service will be held in the spring for family and friends. Arrangements are in the care and direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Homes, New Glasgow. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. Private condolences to the family may be made at: www.rhporter.ca
