It is with broken hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Doris Hayman-Dennis, at the age of 83, on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland, on November 12, 1935, Doris was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Lillington) LeFrense.
She was faithful to St. John Anglican Church in North Sydney where she was a Mother’s Union member. Doris had a zest for life and loved to shop. She loved having company, playing cards and she loved to dance.
Doris will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Loretta Dawe; granddaughter, Donna (Eddy) Hall; step great-grandsons, Ryan and Josh Hall and great-grandson, Connor Hall, the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by sisters, Una (Tom) Seymour, Mary Ann (Frank) Durnford, both of Isle aux Morts, Betty (Charlie) Benoit, Port Aux Basques; her brothers, Randy (Starla) LeFrense, Sydney Mines, Abbott (Ann) LeFrense, Isle aux Morts; sister-in-law, Dulcie Best, North Sydney and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Jim Dennis; by Loretta’s father, Garland Hayman; her sisters, Sue and Barbara Crane; brothers, John and Clayton LeFrense and Hector Best.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Hickey for his wonderful care over the years and also our heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff of Teresa Terrace at the Northside Guest Home for their love and kindness.
Visitation for Doris will be held form 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
A funeral service will be held at 3 on Thursday at St. John Anglican Church with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home or St. John Anglican Church.
