Hazel Pearl (Townsend Wood) Noyes

1915 - 2019
It is with sadness the family announces the death of Hazel Noyes occurred at her residence in Saskatoon, SK Sherbrooke Community Centre on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Mom was born on August 20, 2015 to parents Cecil Townsend and Josephine Cotton in Rollo Bay Prince Edward Island. Within a few years of her birth her mother died of an aneurysm and her father died of a heart attack. She was adopted by George and Ida Wood and found new brothers and a younger sister. Hazel taught school at the age of 18 and graduated from the PEI School of Nursing in 1938. When war broke out South Africa needed nurses, so mom volunteered. While there she met her true love Clark. They married in Cairo and honeymooned in Alexandria. Upon their return home they settled in Clark’s home, Saskatoon. Mom worked as a private Duty Nurse and a Public Health Nurse. Following Clark’s death in 1963 she continued as a single parent to raise their two teenage children Ron and Betty. After retirement she obtained her Realtor’s License and worked in that profession until 1972. We all benefited from mom’s home connections and roots in PEI, and many trips were made there and to Regina for all family occasions with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her son Ron his wife Sandy and their family daughter Heather and son Cohen; and daughter Quynn (Jarett) and their children Bryden and Makenna; her daughter Betty (Norm) and the Dyck family as well as the Townsend family, the Wood family and the Aitken family. The family extends their sincere thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre. A summer Memorial Celebration will be announced at a future date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
