It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of George Percy Stubbert, age 78, dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend on Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Alexander and Lucy (Cadwell) Stubbert.
George worked for many years as a lobster fisherman and truck driver. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time in the Cape Breton Highlands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (King) Stubbert; daughters, Priscilla (Albert) Herridge, North Sydney, Loretta (Kevin) Strickland, Millville, Eva (Michael) Walters, Groves Point; his son, George Stubbert, Glace Bay; seven grandchildren, Robert, Lisa, Hilarie, George, Wayne, Wilson, Emily; seven great-grandchildren, Carissa, Casey, Aiden, Harlee, George, Jessie, Matthew, as well as several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and his two sisters, Priscilla MacInnis and Annie Devoe.
George was predeceased by a sister, Rose Rudderham and three brothers, William, Matthew and Alexander.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Siliba, Palliative Care, nursing staff of 4West at the Northside General Hospital and Dr. Eugene Ignacio for the care given to George during his illness.
In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
