After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, we say goodbye to our mother, sister and friend, Marjorie Beaton who passed away on March 21, 2019 at the age of 74 in Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay.
We will forever miss her radiant smile and lively laugh. Marjorie surrounded herself with music. She loved to sing in the choir, dance with her husband and friends and rock along to her music at home.
She spent many hours around campfires in Mira and going for strolls along Dominion Beach. Marjorie grew up in Dominion, graduating from MacDonald High School in 1963 and then worked many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay after attending business college.
Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her children, son, David (Lynn Ann Francis), and the mother of his children Debbie; daughter, Sheri (Dene), as well as her siblings, Stan (Na), Ed (Raylene), and her five grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, David (2010); her parents, Charles and Barbara (MacDonald) MacNeil, and her brother, Urban.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Marjorie will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bridgeport with Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. A reception will be held in the church hall. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Special thanks to the staff at Victoria Haven Nursing Home for the years of loving care. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Parkinson’s Association of Canada.
