In Loving Memory of our Dad, Sylvester Barron
who passed away 20 years ago today.
If windows could hold memories
I know just what ours would see
How many times Dad had sat there
Waiting for you and for me.
For it wasn’t your choice to leave us
And at times it feels like yesterday
God looked down and saw that you were suffering
And just could not look away.
He held out his hand said “come join me”
Don’t worry about them they’ll be fine
For they have each other to lean on
And in time they’ll learn to get by.
For losing a parent is difficult
A big part of our heart is now gone
It’s something we just learn to live with
And somehow our lives must go on.
For our father was somebody special
He was loved by everyone that he knew
We still reminisce and tell stories about him
And share a good laugh or two.
Cause memories are all we have now of him
And still 20 years later we cry
But we know that he’s in Heaven’s window
Waiting for us from up in the sky.
