In Loving Memory of Michael Joseph Comerford (79 years) born July 15, 1939, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Miller Center. Beloved husband of 56 years to Josephine Comerford (nee Kennedy). Loving father to Denise McNicholas (Peter) of Penticton, B.C., Michael (Glenda) of Stephenville, NL., and Richard (Pam) of Oshawa, Ont. Grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Bridget Comerford (nee Ryan) and infant daughter Helen Mary. Survived by his brother Harold Lee (wife Betty), sister Caroline Dobbin (predeceased, Dave), sister Madonna Critch (husband Ralph) and sister Theresa Daley (husband Gerard). Will be missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Our father was born in Mall Bay, St. Mary’s Bay where he was a fisherman for several years. In 1968 the family moved to Wabush, Labrador where Mike worked in Scully Mines. The family returned to Newfoundland in 1972 and settled in Mount Pearl. Mike was foreman at City Sand and Gravel for many years. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Leonard J. Miller Center palliative care unit for their excellent care and compassion, as well as, the homecare team (Amy and Josephine) for their kindness and support. A special thank-you to our Aunt Mary Cole and Uncle Tom Kennedy for all their help and support. The family will be receiving visitors at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl from 7-9pm Friday; then on Saturday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.; and on Sunday from 12noon-5pm. Cremation to follow the visitation. A funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Mount Pearl Chapel on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
