Lorraine Budge

Passed on: March 29th, 2019

On March 29, 2019, we said goodbye to our Mom, our rock, our confidant and most of all our friend. Mom had a strong Catholic faith in God that saw her through the challenges in her life, especially during her battle with cancer.
She will be remembered for her first class knitting and sewing abilities and the homemade “sweeties” baked in her kitchen. She had an ever present sense of being an instigator, “no fun being too good”, a traveller, a crafter, and genuine friendliness were her trademarks.
Born in Aspy Bay on December 11, 1948, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Howard and Christena (Burton) Chaisson.
Lorraine is survived by her two sons, Merrill and Melvin; brothers, Earl (Bernadette) Chaisson, Kevin (Heather Morrison) Chaisson and sister, Katherine (Michael) Johnston; brother-in-law, Gorden Budge; a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, George Budge; mother-in-law, Blanche; father-in-law, Melvin; sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Marie; brothers-in-law, Alex and Alan Budge.
Also predeceased by her brother, Merrill, and niece, Kimberley
The family wish to express sincere gratitude for the care and compassion given from doctors, nursing staff, care givers, and the many friends, neighbors and community togetherness shown. Martha and Laura your daily trek to the hospital and for being there when needed the most. To the Fitzgerald family Lollie; Lorraine always considered you as her “other sister” Angus, the many laughs and puzzles and Stephanie, she considered you as a daughter she never had. Thank you all for the many prayers and support as we journey through these days of loss.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Mom’s wishes, a Mass of celebration will be held at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, Bay St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 5, with Rev. Ikechukwu Alphonsus Iwuji officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 12 Noon to 1:45 p.m. (the lower level) with refreshments being served by the CWL.
Memorial donations may be made to Buchanan Memorial Hospital Palliative Care or the St Margaret’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, NS
