October 26, 1929 - May 29, 2011

It is with great sadness that the family announces that Gerrit (Pop) was called home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the age of 81.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Jenny and his three children Jurien (Colette), Francina (Will) Barb (Willy) and fondly remembered by his grandchildren Johnathan, Crissy (Geoff), Brent, Jenna (Stuart), Jordan, Colton and Laura and great grandchildren Henrich, Lincoln, Kayla and Kingston. He also leaves to mourn two sisters Riet and Co in Holland.

Pop was born in Holland, joined the Army and met and married Jenny in May 1954, and shortly after they moved to Canada where he worked as a mechanic and lived in Surrey. Pop loved music and was a very talented and well known singer among his family, friends and his church. His voice will be tremendously missed.

The family would like to thank the Fire Department and Paramedics who worked tirelessly to help.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Gerrit's (Pop's) life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. 1136 - 6th Avenue, Kamloops with Pastor Harold Wiest.
