Joyce Gordon

It is with heavy hearts the family of Muriel Joyce Gordon, 84, of Westville, sadly announce her passing on April 8, 2019.

Born in New Glasgow on October 1, 1934, she was the former Joyce MacDonald, daughter of the late Harry and Ethel (MacDonald) Haslam.

Joyce worked for 28 years at Glen Haven Manor, and was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge, Heritage Club, and within St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the church choir, the Session, and the Barbara McKenzie Auxiliary. Mom enjoyed participating in bowling, senior exercising, and card parties. The “All But 1 Card Club of 40+ years was a weekly gathering of her lifelong friends.

She is survived by daughter Rebecca (Laurie) Lightfoot, Canning; daughter Cindy (Hugh) MacLeod, Victoria Vale; son Donnie (Kim) Gordon, Westville; daughter Esther (Rocco) DiFabio; Northside East Bay, Cape Breton; daughter Bonnie (Wayne) Curtis, Edmonton, Alta; daughters-in-law Suzanne Gordon, Westville and Brenda Pryor, Truro; son-in-law Shane Leadbeater, Truro; sister Emily (Harold) Lacey and nephews Brad and Brian Lacey. Mom embraced the love of 8 children and spouses; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and all her grand fur babies.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Arnold; daughter Linda Leadbeater; and sons, Arnold “Ginner” and Kenny; and partner Allan Campbell.

The family would like to thank the Drs. and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital for the exceptional loving care and deep compassion for Mom.

Joyce is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Thursday from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with Sam Graham officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Andrews Church, Westville. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
