Gordon Mowatt Boothroyd, February 24,1955 – April 8, 2019 (64 years of age)

As a result of a heart attack at home in West Covehead, Gordon later passed away at the Halifax Infirmary with his loving family by his side.

A devoted husband and proud, loving father is deeply missed by his bride and soul mate, Melody, along with his family.

Full of laughter, teller of jokes, and entertainer extraordinaire – Gordon leaves a long career from the Veteran’s Review and Appeal Board, from which he retired just a few weeks prior to his passing. His free time was spent playing the piano for hours, which he always loved to do, practicing jazz and blues, and playing in jam sessions with his fellow musicians and friends. He volunteered much of his free time with various non-profits, as well as donating his musical talents to numerous events and charities. Despite challenges with his eyesight, he spent hours working on his antique British car, doing cryptic crossword puzzles and was extremely well read.

He will be forever deeply missed by Melody and their daughters Vanessa, and Brittany (Nate)- Brothers Allan (Sharon), Andrew (Lynn), Ted (Margie), David (Hilde), Frank, and sister-in-law Cynthia (Rod), mother-in-law Betty (Elmer), and beloved dog Katie. His surviving family, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins, will no doubt remember Gordon as a kind, positive soul; both a gentle man and a gentleman. He was known for being a listening ear for anyone who needed it, and for providing words of wisdom guided by his deep knowledge and understanding of life and spirituality. He travelled the world with his bride, finding home wherever and whenever they were together.

The family would like to thank the North Shore Fire Department, the first responders, the trauma staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the helicopter and CCU teams at the Halifax Infirmary. A thank you also goes to the team at Atlantic Dartmouth Chapel where cremation took place. Special thank you to all of the support from friends and family at this difficult time, especially the “peanut gang”.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12th from 2-4pm and followed by a Celebration of Life for friends and family at 4:30pm, both at Park Royal United Church. Donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or Hospice PEI, while flowers for the family would also be cherished.

Condolences can be sent to the family via the funeral home at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth chapel)

Predeceased by his parents Reverend Donald C. Boothroyd and Ruth Boothroyd (Christie), brother Andrew and daughter Melissa.

“It's nine o'clock on a Saturday, the regular crowd shuffles in”

There's a new piano man ready to play for the angels in heaven.
