Margaret "Dolly" Allen

Margaret "Dolly" Allen

It is with deep sadness, we bid farewell to a kind loving woman, our mother, Dolly on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (Campbell) Brann.
A member of St. Anne’s Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the funeral team. Very involved in politics, she wore many hats, dating back to the Akerman years. Her passion was fashion; known for her style, she would spend many hours re-designing outfits or making new ones.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Joni (Charles) McNeil, sons, Shawn (Elaine), Mike (Brenda) and Richard (Tammy) Allen. She also leaves behind sisters, Nonie MacDonald, Glace Bay, Mary Currie, Nanaimo B.C. and brother Robert Brann, world traveler.
Gathering her fold, she loved to spend time with her nine grandchildren, Clayton, Matthew, Mason, Theresa, Colin, Kyle, Meagan, Tiffany, and Brandon. Her smile would illuminate a room upon seeing her seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Emily, Skylar, Chloe, Luke, and Caden.
Many thanks to moms, Dale, Lisa, Amanda and Sarah. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Jim (Lynn) and Ronnie (Yvonne) Allen, Aylmer, Ontario and sisters-in-law Arlene and Marie. With a great capacity for love, too numerous to mention, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends that were her family.
Mom was predeceased by her parents John and Sadie, brothers Naish, Al (Kay) and John (Jackie) Brann. Predeceasing her also was her former husband, George Allen, brothers-in-law, Bernie MacDonald, Don Allen and several nephews and a niece.
At her request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
Should you like to make a donation, in her honor, please do so to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Anne’s.
In her words, “Age is just a number and mine is unlisted”
