Joyce Ann Polson

Joyce Ann Polson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Joyce Ann Polson, surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2019. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Fraser and Sarah (MacDonald) MacAulay of Reserve Mines.
Joyce will be sadly missed by her children, David (Geri), Cathy (Jamie), and David R. (Monica), and grandchildren, Emily, Hayden, D’Anna, Laura, and Richard as well as her nephews, Keith (MaryLynn) and Donnie; grand-nephews, Logan and Lucas and niece Isabelle.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis; her sister Maurina whom she shared a very special relationship with as well as a sister Kay and a child in infancy. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Parish and in better health, enjoyed her time as a youth group leader. When her children left the nest, Joyce started babysitting for a few families over the years. Each one of those children were dearly loved by her, she was their very own Mary Poppins. She also touched hearts over the years playing Santa Claus to many children (and adults) in the community. She jumped at every opportunity to dress up in her costumes to entertain and lived to put a smile on people’s faces. She was always happiest in a crowd and loved to make people laugh. Joyce’s grandchildren were her pride and joy, she loved listening to their stories. Even though they were separated by miles, they were close to her heart. She enjoyed talking with all of her friends on the phone and staying in touch with everyone, especially Leonard Doucette with whom she shared not just a birthday with but a very special bond. Joyce was a very warm and fun-loving person and loved spending time socializing with the young people in the community which kept her young at heart. She is now reunited with our Dad and Maurina. Look out Heaven, the Dynamic Duo is back together.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at April 22, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Funeral Mass will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial to take place at a later date.
