BIBBY, Olivia Quinn, May 21, 1991- April 18, 2019, It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our sweet Olivia “Seaweed” Bibby in Oakville, Ontario at the age of 27. An alumna of Dalhousie University, Halifax, in 2014 she earned a B.A. with a double major in Religious Studies and Social Anthropology; Olivia was working towards a Masters in Counselling at McMaster University, Hamilton. Nova Scotia held a special spot in Olivia’s heart; she took a piece of it with her and it will not be the same place in her absence. Her spontaneity brought her back on many occasions: the final chapter of her high school education, assistant teaching at Montessori, achievement of her undergrad degree, surprising Emily for her wedding, jumping in a car for an impromptu road trip eastward because she missed the sea air…she was small in size but yet had the strength to take a swim in the Atlantic ocean in late September during one of these unplanned visits. Olivia’s empathy knew no bounds; she was able to put herself in others’ shoes and always had words of encouragement. In a recent letter to her brother Elliot she wrote, “I always feel a little uneasy when things come to an end, like this pad of paper inevitably will. It feels like I’m losing a moment in time. I’m not a particularly materialistic person but I do find that possessions, like music or food, grant me access to memories that I may have otherwise lost”. Though her time on this earth has come to an end we will never lose our memories of Olivia. Olivia will be fiercely missed by her family: Dad Ian Bibby (Shelley Bibby), brothers Gabriel and Elliot Bibby, all of Windsor, NS, Mom Connie Buck (Mike Sanci), Oakville, ON, sisters Rheanna Bibby (Ryan Myers), London, ON, Caitlin Wall, Toronto, ON and Cairis Wall, Victoria, BC, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Service was held April 27, 2019 at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, Oakville, Ontario. A celebration of Olivia’s life will be held at a later date in Nova Scotia. Please consider a donation in Olivia’s memory to the Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group where she volunteered during her time at Dalhousie (https://www.nspirg.ca ), the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia (https://www.mentalhealthns.ca) or any other charity of your choice in support of mental health advocacy.
