It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom and beloved confidant, Olga Joan Morrell (Schaller). Olga passed away with family by her side on April 29, 2019 at the An Cala unit of the CBRM Hospital.
Born in Sydney Forks in 1937, Olga was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Hunter) Schaller. Olga is predeceased by her husband and best friend, Sydney G.L. Morrell; her siblings, Paul, George, John Louis (in infancy), Roderick, John Basil; sisters, Polly Graham and Marie Pittard.
Olga is survived by her children, Derek (Vicky), ON, Paul (Linda), AB, Marie (Mike), NS, Denise, AB, Laurie (Herb), NS; grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Geordan, Tyler, Peter, Steven, Andrew and Cidney; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Kate, and Luke. Olga is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sharon, Thelma, numerous deeply loved nieces and nephews as well as her brothers-in-law, Robert (Diane), Des (Dorothy) and the Morrell families in England.
Olga left Sydney Forks at 21 to move to England to marry her love. Olga and Syd moved around a fair amount before returning to her childhood neighbourhood of Sydney Forks. Olga attended the Riverview High School Pioneer Reunion, worked as yard supervisor for Mountainview Elementary School, who will remember her fondly. She also cared for many neighbourhood children after school. She had a great love for humour which was evident by her laughter and a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the An Cala unit, Palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
