Catherine Jane MacDonald
We, the family of Catherine Jane MacDonald, regret to announce her passing on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born June 7, 1941, in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacDonald) MacInnis.
Catherine was employed in the retail sector for many years before finishing her working life at Mayfair Guest Home, Sydney. After retirement, she was an active member of Club 55 and in the past year valued her time spent at the VON Day Center. Mom, who loved her music, cooking and time with friends and family, will be missed by all for her apple pie, quick wit and laughter. She is survived by her daughters, Dana MacDonald and Lisa (Robert) MacIntyre, Sydney; son, Darryl (Lynn), Sydney; sisters, Mildred (Rudy) Pierrynowski, Sydney and Donna Boyer, New Minas; brothers, Jackie (Mena), Glace Bay and Art (Claire), Arichat, as well as her grand-furbabies. Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by a brother in infancy.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 9 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
We would like to thank the staff of the ER, IMCU, 4B and 4E at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, as well as Dr. Mary Doyle, Dr. A Holmes, Dr. Keating and Dr. Wong for their excellent care.
