It’s with great sadness that the family of Marguerite Arley ‘Margie’ Holbrook, retired R.N. (nee MacDonald) announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Thorncliffe Place Retirement Residence in Bells Corners, Ottawa, ON. Margie was born on November 2, 1931 in Glace Bay, NS.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Harry Rolph Holbrook Jr.; parents, Murdock Angus MacDonald and Mary Willena ‘Lena’ MacDonald; her brother, Allistair.
Left to grieve the loss are her children, Harry (Yvonne), James ‘Jim’ (Lucia), Lincoln (Elsa) and Mary Jean ‘MJ’ (Sean Marks); her grandchildren, Megan, Katie, David, Denise, Morgan, Bryan, Wyatt and Colton; and her best friend and sister, Wilma. She will also be missed by many friends as well as extended family members from the MacDonald, Holbrook, Drake, Araya, Florez, Mackie and Marks families.
The family would like to thank the staff at Thorncliffe Place Retirement Residence, LiHN & Carefor for the compassionate and dignified care provided to Margie over the last two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in memory of Margie to the Dementia Society of Ottawa, Thorncliffe Place Retirement Residence or Trait D’union Outaouais Inc.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. at Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond rd., Ottawa. The family will also have a visitation on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 noon at Kitchissippi United Church, 630 Island Park, Ottawa ON K1Y 0B7. A reception will be held in the church hall after the service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
