Donna Eagles

With broken hearts we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, Donna Eagles, 67. Donna was a proud, loving mother, nanny, sister, and friend. After a courageous battle, the warrior lost her fight on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
Donna always had a kind word, a smile and her positive outlook on life was infectious. Donna never missed Thursday night of darts at MacKay’s corner (where she held VP position) with her many friends and her best friend and ‘partner in crime’, Marilyn Harrison. The two were affectionately known as the ‘Whiskey Chicks’. Donna was also a proud executive member at R.C.L. Branch 78 Dominion. Donna always looked like a million dollars, dressed to the nines, lipstick on, and not a hair out of place. She believed, ‘You look good, you feel good’. Her daughters never had to wonder who was her favourite because they knew it was her beloved fur baby, ’Scooby’. She encompassed strength and grace, she was our rock. She lived everyday like it was her last.
In Donna’s own words, her greatest accomplishments in her life, ‘having 3 most amazing daughters through good and bad times I wouldn’t trade you for the world. So glad I had the years that we did have. Grandkids what can I say, so blessed. They are the love of my life; your dad and I enjoyed every moment spent with them’.
Donna was a graduate of the City of Sydney School of Nursing in 1972. She was a compassionate and dedicated nurse. Throughout her career she worked in ICU, Heavy Water Plant, ER Department at Glace Bay General, Hooper Homes Portamedic and she found the highlight of her career with Dr. A. Munshi as Clinical Trials Coordinator. Donna was always the nurse on call to all her family, friends, and neighbours. She was never without her nurses’ purse!
Donna was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, John Eagles.
She was the daughter of the late James and Lois (Hawco) St. John.
She is survived by her three wonderful daughters, Tracey (Trevor Deckert), Lisa (Doug Croft), and Melissa; three precious grandchildren, Carter, Lucy and Banner. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry (Nornie) St. John, and Michael (Cheryl) St. John; brothers-in-law, Donnie, Robbin (Becky), Francis (Janet); sisters-in-law, Norma (Joe) Gollar, and Jane Eagles; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donna was also predeceased by brother-in-law, Pete and sisters-in-law, Anne, Joan and Bets; mother and father-in-law, Gordon and Isabelle (McInnis) Eagles.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating all taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. (902-849-4199)

Words cannot express the gratitude our family has for the wonderful care, compassion and support received from Dr. S. Hall and Dr. W.
